AAP government threatening Congress leaders with false cases to keep them away from Jalandhar by poll: MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary

JALANDHAR, April 9 (BEURO) : Hitting out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary alleged on Sunday that it was threatening the Congress party leaders with false cases to keep them from campaigning in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by election.

He said the ruling party was trying to silence the opposition leaders by slapping fabricated charges so that the latter would not openly campaign for Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.

The Phillaur MLA claimed that the Bhagwant Mann government was misusing agencies such as the vigilance bureau to coerce opposition leaders by cooking up malicious accusations.

“Even our respected leader, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi ji, is being pressurized with baseless investigations by the vigilance bureau. The Aam Aadmi Party has completely failed to fulfil its pre-poll promises and, as it fears defeat, is now targeting Congress leaders in desperation. It wants to win the by-election by hook or crook, but these arm-twisting tactics will not deter us and all the voters, especially those belonging to the Dalit community, will give the AAP a befitting reply on 10th May,” MLA Chaudhary said.

He stated that the Election Commission of India should take note of the brazen efforts to intimidate and silence the Congress leaders and put a stop to the misuse of government agencies.
